Pottery
Chăm pottery serves a multifaceted purpose ranging from household essentials to religious artifacts and creations like pots, vases, trays and jars. These pieces are viewed as manifestations of individual creativity, primarily crafted by women in the community. Traditional firing methods are fueled outside by firewood and straw, a studious process lasting up to seven to eight hours. Locally sourced materials including sand, clay, water and straw, form the foundation for these pottery works that are often shaped by hand or used with paddles or wooden tables. The crafting process unfolds three primary stages: clay preparation, shaping, and firing, each contributing to the rich cultural significance of Chăm pottery.
